Hotel Network Testing for OPERA PMS
Download the network test utility by accessing the following link:
https://www.microsdc.com/Download/TechInfo.zip
Select 'Save':
Once downloaded, the content of the zip file needs to be extracted.
To do so, access file location, right click on the file and select '7Zip' -> 'Extract here'.
Alternatively, if you do not use 7zip, but other unzip app (i.e. WinRAR, WinZIP, etc), the procedure is the same. If not embedded in the right click menu, just double click the TechInfo.zip file, it will open with the unzip app that you have installed, then you can extract it to the desired location. (an 'Extract' button will be visible in the app)
-> this will extract the files to the current folder, you should see them there.
There are 4 files inside >
- 2 applications (.exe): Fping.exe and http-ping.exe
- 1 Visual Basic script (.vbs): PingOperaIP.vbs
- 1 Batch file (.bat): TechInfo.bat
Important! -> You need to be logged into Opera in order for the tool to retrieve all the desired information. For Cloud Hosted Environments: If you are logged into the Jump Server, the TechInfo.zip files need to be downloaded to this server, no restriction regarding the folder where you download it. Once you are logged in Opera (in the targeted environment), you can proceed to the next step. Same will apply if you are logged in a customer Workstation For Non-hosted Environments: Connect to an affected Workstation. Download the TechInfo.zip files to the Workstation. Log into Opera if not already logged. Proceed to the next step.
Double click the TechInfo.bat file. This will execute internally the other 3 files and will output the result to a file called techinfo.txt that will appear in the same folder.
During the execution, you will see a Command Prompt (CMD) window in the background, DO NOT close it. Once finished, it will close automatically.
If you are not logged into Opera, as mentioned in the above note, you will receive this message after running the tool:
You will still be able to see the techinfo.txt file generated with some information in it, but it will be incomplete.
If the tool completes the process successfully, you will see this screen:
Check the Latency rows (there are 2). If the Average value exceeds 120 ms, then most probably will result in OPERA performance issues.
Upon clicking OK, this screen and the CMD window will close.
As mentioned above, the generated file techinfo.txt will be available within same folder.
The content of the output file techinfo.txt is grouped as follows:
Ipconfig -> IP Configuration of the current Workstation/Server where the tool is executed
Interface List -> Network interfaces present on the Computer
Route Print -> IPv4 Route Table - table which stores the IPv4 addresses used for routing data packets properly through the Network
-> IPv6 Route Table - table which stores the IPv6 addresses used for routing data packets properly through the Network
-> ARP table - table that stores the correlation between each MAC address and its corresponding IP address.
Script -> retrieves Opera IP, performs 2 different pings based on the Opera IP and provides the results
Netstat -> table that displays TCP/IP active network connections for the Workstation/Server
Ping and Tracer
Thank you for logging a Service Request (SR) with Oracle Support. I am Alfredo Aguirre and I will take care or your request. I am currently reviewing the issue and we need some information to continue further:
We need to run a few commands from any Opera workstations while you are experiencing latency on the opera App.
REMEMBER THIS HAS TO BE DONE WHILE YOU ARE EXPERIENCING LATENCY
PING:
1. Click the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the bottom left-hand corner and type "cmd" into the search bar.
2. Select the Command Prompt app - it will be at the top of the list of search results as the best match.
3. A black box with a flashing cursor will open; this is the Command Prompt. Type "ping" and then hit the Space bar on your keyboard.
4.Type in the Opera address (uoc01-oho-prod-oam.hospitality.oracleindustry.com) and then hit the Enter key on your keyboard. Wait for the ping results.
TRACERT:
1. Click the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the bottom left-hand corner and type "cmd" into the search bar.
2. Select the Command Prompt app - it will be at the top of the list of search results as the best match.
3. A black box with a flashing cursor will open; this is the Command Prompt. Type "tracert" and then hit the Space bar on your keyboard.
4.Type in the Opera address (uoc01-oho-prod-oam.hospitality.oracleindustry.com) and then hit the Enter key on your keyboard. Wait for the tracert results.
NETSTAT
1. Click the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the bottom left-hand corner and type "cmd" into the search bar.
2. Select the Command Prompt app - it will be at the top of the list of search results as the best match.
3. A black box with a flashing cursor will open; this is the Command Prompt. Type "NetStat" and then hit enter
Wait for the NetStat results.
PATHPING
1. Click the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the bottom left-hand corner and type "cmd" into the search bar.

4.Type in the Opera address (uoc01-oho-prod-oam.hospitality.oracleindustry.com) and then hit the Enter key on your keyboard. Wait for the PathPing results.
as well please run a speed test, just open the following link on the workstation:
https://www.speedtest.net/
Please attache the information to this SR
I will update the SR with my findings and plans for the next steps, I will call you as soon as I have completed the initial investigations. Please share with me any information about your crucial milestones to help me to prioritize this SR correctly, any additional input on your experience of the issue is appreciated to narrow down the root cause.
